Kiba walked closer and closer to the treeline, and entered into the forest upon reaching it. The forest was extremely dark the further inwards one went, but slowly KIbas eyes adjusted to the darkness. He could tell it was dark, but had no trouble seeing his surroundings. Kiba decided he wanted to circle around the structure to get a feel for the surrounding area, and to ensure that they didn't stray too far and get lost. So he stayed close enough to the treeline so that he could see the clearing by the structure, which it was clear now to him was a ship/flying machine that the humans used. Kiba made sure that Shadow was beside him as he walked. He didn't want either of them to get lost. "Hey Shadow, so what happened before we got here? I'm assuming this is another planet. Do you remember how we were sent here or why us?" he asked "I can't remember anything, and I'm not sure why." He continued walking steadily around the area of the ship, weaving between the trees and keeping a close eye on the inner forest as they went, as he did not know what sort of creatures may be native to this new place.

Shadow padded along beside Kiba, checking her leaves every so often, reminding herself to clean her paws once they find water. If this planet has water, that is. I am pretty sure the "how" is that, she flicked her tail towards the ship. The room with the writings all over the walls said something about a war. Perhaps the humans went at it again, but this time it ended. Everything. She sniffed the air. It smelled like blood, but she didn't see any dead beings anywhere. Through the darkness she could feel something pulsing, and she flattened her whiskers. Something is here...
She hopped ahead and spotted a tree, a cavern seemingly dug out of the base of its trunk. The glowing leaves were a bit brighter than the surrounding trees', but it seemed like it could be used as a den, and at a close enough proximity to the ship for continual observation of anyone else who happened to wake up. Look, what's in here? She inched closer, sniffing. It smelled heavily as the rotten corpse from the ship, but not as rancid. More fresh, blood, radioactively sweet blood. The tree smelled like blood, and lots of it. Inside the den, the ground was weaved together by its roots. She sniffed the entrance, and set a paw lightly on one of the roots. It felt warm, even through the leaf.
Her vision faded into a sense of fear, and she came back to the sound of a loud crack. The floor was unraveling. Long root-vine tendrils shot out of the mouth of the tree and straight toward her. She made a break for it in the opposite direction, tripping over her paws. She had run farther into the forest, into the darkness, away from the ship and the skylight.

"Yes, if there's any reason the old world would have ended it would have been because of the humans" Kiba said. Kiba continued walking along side her, observing the natural environment and keeping a close eye on the inner forest as they went. It began to smell like blood, and he sniffed the air to try to determine where the smell was originating from. As they continued a bit farther, he saw that it appeared to be coming from a tree. It smelled similar to the blood of the dead creature they had seen in the ship. The tree had glowing leaves that were slightly brighter than others similar to it, and had a den-like opening at the bottom of its trunk made by its roots. Shadow was curious about the den-like shape, and inched closer to it asking what it might be. She set her paw on one of the roots. Just then tendrils shot out at her from the tree and the roots began to unravel themselves. Shadow ran away toward the inside of the forest. She tripped over her paws, and Kiba jumped beside her to attack the roots briefly until she had gotten back up and was far enough away from the tree to not be attacked by it. Kiba turned around and followed her, running quite a ways into the forest before slowing down. They were far enough into the forest now that he couldn't see the ship or the forest's edge any longer. "I think were alright now" he said "that thing was insane whatever it was, suddenly this place doesn't seem so welcoming. Are you alright?". He slowed down to walking speed, and kept a careful eye on every tree they passed.

Shadow took a very deep breath, deeper than she thought she could, but the extra oxygen-or whatever they were breathing-helped. Was it ever so welcoming? She glanced up at a tree, and scraped the torn leaves off her paws. I'm alright, are you? She watched him as she cleaned her paws. Why are my paws sticky? Must be the same reason Kiba and I can understand each other. It has to be, this atmosphere is messing up our senses.
After cleaning her paws for the twelfth time, she sighed and looked at Kiba's paws. Are your paws doing this too? Sticking to things, I mean.

"Well, im glad you're alright. I'm fine" he said. She began trying to clean her paws again, as more debris had stuck to them. Kiba noticed that the same thing had indeed began to happen to his own paws, though not as severely. "Yes, it has now that you mention it", Kiba responded "and another strange thing as well: my tail is starting to hurt quite a lot, for no reason. It almost feels as if there's a bulge at the end of it, like something under my skin. It's the strangest thing". He tried rubbing off some of the grass that had stuck to his paws on a rock, and wondered at why all these strange phenomena were happening. It must be something about the planet. He looked around trying to find the exit of the forest, but could not. They had lost it, and he now had little idea of where they were. He began walking in the direction which he believed was the one from which they came, but went off to the side slightly to avoid the tree they had encountered just in case it was indeed the right direction. "Have you noticed any other strange phenomenon Shadow? I haven't any idea how or why all these strange things are occurring", he asked, making sure she was right beside him as he walked.

Shadow began to follow him, plastering her paws into another set of dead, faintly glowing leaves. My paws hurt, the skin on my back is beginning to sting everywhere, well it all is in a way. I seem to be able to breathe more air at a time than I used to, but that could just be an illusion. She felt a drilling pressure inside her canines, and ran her tongue over them. I probably just need rest, odds are this is just us reacting negatively to change and having mental breakdowns...
And... She started, but couldn't finish her thought. She saw her vision fade yet again, and felt an increase in the energy of the forest. A glowing tree beyond, with long glowing vine-like branches hanging over a river, with large flat rocks on the border, gave her a feeling of safety. She could see it, and wondered where it was. She also saw Kaite and Kato, from her dream, their pelts transparent and glittered in stars, their eyes shining like gray opals and rubies, and they were lounging on a branch stemming from the trunk, running straight across the river, right above it.
That... Shadow meowed as her vision faded, coming back to the present. She shook her head and hopped up beside him. She suddenly turned her head, and pushed him into a sharp left turn around a tree. This way! She shot out and started running. She turned sharply left again and came across the same tree from her vision. Same river, same long flowing vines of leaves, same tree with a vague resemblance to a willow.

Kiba thought it was strange that Shadow's whole body seemed to be in pain. He had noticed his back had also began to feel in pain. "Perhaps were just tired and sore" he said. She acted as if she was going to say something else, but it seemed that her mind blanked out. Shadow stood there for a moment, and then suddenly pushed him left and began running off somewhere. Kiba followed her towards wherever she was headed. They arrived at a tree that resembled a willow. "What is it?" Kiba asked, still confused as to why they had come to this spot.

Shadow ducked between the hanging leaves and sniffed at the base of the tree. Its trunk was a dark gray-brown leathery substance, different than those willow trees back on Terra. However, it smelled fresh and full of life. Safety. This site feels safe for now. She replied as she peeled the leaves off her paws. She stuck them to the rocks beneath her and eventually got used to stepping on the flat parts of the rocks, kicking them against other nearby stones to knock off any picked up strays.
She sniffed the water and lapped some up. It was cold, and sharp, but tasted like water so she drank her fill before wading her paws in. It seemed to help with the stickiness, but the sharp pain and pressure inside her paws grew worse. She hopped up to the branch overhanging the water and lounged, staring at the dark churning water below.

Kiba considered what Shadow had said, and could indeed confirm that he felt that feeling as well. "Yes, it does indeed feel like a peaceful location" he said, "perhaps we can rest here for a moment." Shadow peeled the leaves off her paws and went to the edge of a river that was next to the tree to lap some water. She then stuck her paws in the water, but decided to not enter it any further and jumped onto a branch of the tree. Kiba climbed up the side of the tree where it was bent at angle. He then layed on the same branch that Shadow layed on. "Hey Shadow, how did you know that this place was here, and that itd be safe?" he asked, wondering how she had done it.

Shadow leaned down to drink a little more of the cold water before replying, I saw it. She turned to the wolf. I saw them, the two cats from my dream. Kaite and Kato, I think. They were here. Right where we are now. She gazed into the black water. I trust them, but I do not know why. I have a feeling that they took me to be frozen, to be sent here. She winced in pain as her paws' pain got sharper, stronger, and her back felt pulsing with sharp pain.
Why am I in such pain...? Shadow glanced at Kiba to see if he by chance was experiencing anything similar. Soon, a sharp pain shot up her legs. She couldn't balance herself on the branch, and couldn't feel her legs enough to move them to stop herself from plunging into the river. A bright, piercing pain kept pulsing, every nerve in her paws on fire with growth.
After a few moments of wishing she was dead, having hit her head on a rock on the way down into the shallow river, she felt the pain ease and saw blood trickle past her muzzle. She glanced at her bloody paws, and a small appendage had appeared alongside her toes, an extra toe. She moved it, it hurt, but she felt the cold water numb it down. It was very small, but usable. Well, that answers that question... She hoped it would grow to match the rest of her toes, and would then be functional.
Her back had started to bleed as well, and short, thin bony spikes had slightly showed themselves, but that pain had ceased before her toes were finished hurting so she hadn't noticed all the blood now coating her back, streaming off into the river. She crawled out of the river and curled up on a rock to wash herself, growling in annoyance upon catching her tongue on a spike, and seeing all the blood they had left.

Kiba wondered at who these Kaite and Kato characters might be. They must have been very close to Shadow. He didn't doubt that these two cats were real beings. Shadow likely was able to tell they had been here with the same ability that allowed her to find this place to begin with. Kiba noticed Shadow start to wince and display she was in pain. Then it appeared she felt an overwhelming pain in her leg, and fell into the river after losing her balance. Kiba panicked as he saw her hit her head on a rock before hitting the water and struggling around. The water turned a dark red before Shadow was able to climb back to shore, with spikes on her back and an extra toe on her paws that had not been there before. Kiba rushed over to her still panicked. "Are you ok Shadow?" he asked frantically "Your'e not still bleeding are you? Where did those spikes come from?". He helped her out of the water and curled up around her once she was on shore to warm her back up. He began licking her to hopefully comfort her after such an unexpected event. It must be the planet, something about the planet. He continued licking, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in all of his teeth and his tail. Kiba whined loudly in pain. "Ow, my teeth and tail are suddenly hurting like crazy" he said "What's going on?". Just then his teeth shed a layer to reveal an even sharper set of teeth beneath. And out of his tail came painfully a sharp barb made of bone. Kiba whined again in pain, and then the pain slowly got less and less. "Well" he said "that was strange. What exactly is going on here?"

Shadow curled up tighter with Kiba, her spikes flexing outward with her ruffled fur. Her claws scraped the ground, and she looked up at him. Soon, he started displaying signs of pain. At a loud whine, she hopped up and circled him. Stay calm, Kiba, she meowed. A sharp bone came ripping out of his tail, barbed, and covered in blood. His teeth lost a layer also, and revealed an even sharper set. Shadow spotted a pile of glowing moss, and tore a chunk off, dipped it in water, and carefully let it drip over his tail to wash off the blood.
This should help, in a muffled meow, added we are reacting to the planet in some way. The energy here has been attacking us since we woke up. She set down the moss and flattened her pelt, spikes flattening with it. This place wants us to adapt. She set her tail gently over her paws, and looked over her shoulder at her back. She took a long, deep breath and could feel the wind changing slightly, trees sending energy signals to each other seemingly telling each other where everything is, etc. She looked back at Kiba and studied him curiously, halfway zoning out.
Drink some water, you'll need it. She dipped her paws in the shallow water again, and rolled over on her back. She stood up and washed the rest of the blood off of her paws and fur. Her spikes became almost white, her once dark pelt was now littered with white flecks. Like the twins, she thought.
Her canines felt weird again, a pressure now starting to become unbearable. She dropped, once again in the river. She heard a crack from inside her head, and felt her mouth fill with not only cold water, but a hot and sharp liquid. After a few moments, she felt her fangs fill with the icy water, and she stood. she shook her head, and shook out her fur. Her fangs instantly grew warm and more sharp liquid dripped out. She licked it, it tasted like nothing to her. She licked her fangs, they felt sharp, but not cracked. She bit into a pile of moss, and the venom injected into it, leaking around the moss, which instantly sizzled at the contact. She dropped it and drank some more water to get it out of her mouth.

Shadow had placed a piece moss that she had wet on his tail to rinse the blood, which he was very glad for. "Thank you" he said after he had recovered from the worst of the pain, "Yes, that does make sense. Adaptation, I hadn't thought of it that way before". Kiba followed Shadows orders and drank some water, knowing and appreciating that she knew it would help him. Just then she fell into the water again in pain, this time emerging with sharp fangs that appeared to ooze a strange liquid, which burned some moss that she tested it on shortly after. Seeing that she was alright, he walked over and gave her a lick before drinking some water. He then began walking in the direction he believed was south, before stopping and turning to Shadow. "Shall we continue exploring?" he asked, wagging his edged tail.

Shadow kept running her tongue over her fangs, making sure the toxin stayed inside, or out of her mouth at least. We shall. Her meow came out a little more raspy and weak than she would've liked, but she went with it. She kept checking her toes, which still hurt, ached with slower growths, but she followed him, dodging a sharp tail. She hopped the river, taking the branch route, and hopped down onto the opposite shore. She waited for him to come along, finding yet another set of four leaves to stick her paws to. She kept a mental note of this place, of the tree. She wanted to return later if she could.

Kiba walked to the other side of the river and began heading back into the depths of the forest, looking to make sure that Shadow was close behind. She had stuck more leaves to her paws, and Kiba noticed that his own paws were sticking to things more as well. Kiba suddenly felt a scattering surge of pain run through his back. His muscles in his back began to twist and grow and rearrange themselves. Thin, sharp bones tore into his flesh and he could feel his skin rearranging itself into wings. He fell to the floor for a moment. The pain was so great that he could not breathe, and his muscles convulsed as he lay on the ground. He layed on the floor waiting for it to stop, and it eventually did. He took a heavy breath to finally get some oxygen, rested on the ground for a moment, and then got back up. "So", he said in a half exhausted voice "I guess I have wings now. I suppose next Ill grow another arm" he joked. He shook off the exhaustion that the wings had caused as best he could and continued walking in the direction they had been going, accepting that such weird phenomena would now be normal for the time being.
