Small paws tapped across the soil, lifting up small specks of dry leaves and earth off the ground as he made his way through the forest. Weaving around trees, over and under large roots, Veto darted his eyes round the shaded scenery. Some spots allowed a bit of sunlight through the canopy of branches but it was outnumbered by the shaded areas. It was the reason why Veto love this place so much, he could hide easily with some sort of burrow or thing to hide behind. Not only was he more likely to see others who could be a potential threat or meal, especially when he could see perfectly fine in the dark while they could possibly glow and not see so well in the dark. Either way he was more likely to see someone here than out in the sun where anyone could spot him from miles away. That is how he liked to live, always one step ahead of people before they even realised there were steps.
Not only was he here because it was one of his favourite places to live and create somewhat of a habitat but because it was good when it came to prey. The amount of people that came through here was more surprising than you would think. Even if he couldn't physically take them down, Veto trusted himself to talk to them and try and work some kind of deal out. If he was lucky enough he would tag along with someone and go from there. He did have to wonder why he had so many enemies out there in the big, bad world.
His scuttering of feet stopped as he stood like something that was trying not to be seen by a bigger something that based it's senses off of movement. He raised his head, making his neck seem longer so that he could take in every bit of movement round the forest. Stood for a moment he twitched his right ear at something that caught his interest, though it was only faint. Any little vibration through the forest floor and air was something worth investigating to him, it was probably what made him come off as so impatient. Veto spent most of his time analysing the little things that he has no time for anything else.
Once he fixed a suitable location of the noise he turned his head and scuttered away, his small paws carrying a long distance by the second. Once again he moved graciously through the forest, almost like a snake if you zoned out enough to only see him as a blur moving across the forest floor. That was until he stopped to then jump behind a tree and peek his head round to see what was making the noise.

Shadow hopped lightly over a branch, her leafed paws still fairly intact. She turned in search of Kiba, and turned back towards the direction they were travelling. The forest had thinned out, and now daylight poured through some patches in the trees. Their faint glowing were still visible, if only slightly. She soon heard a noise as if they'd spooked someone, and dropped into a crouch. She perked her ears toward the noise, and it stopped. She crept forward delicately, making certain that her paws made as little to no noise as possible. She flicked her tail to Kiba, if he was following her, as a signal she hoped would translate to get down.
After a few seconds, she crept around it and stalked forward. She raised her head in fascination, and decided to put her paws to the test. She peeled the leaves off and hopped up to a low branch nearby. Her paws stuck to it, and she could lean over and peer behind the tree. She spotted a fox, and waited silently above for a signal from Kiba as to what should be done. Make him a friend, or kill the native. He looks like he came with us, though no other pods were opened when we left... Is he a native? ::WORDS:: ~215-221 ::NOTES:: Sorry it took so long, had to finish a thread. This should be interesting...

Kiba followed Shadow through the forest, which was getting progressively less dark. There was now a fair amount of sunlight coming through the forest ceiling. He hopped over a branch and continued following Shadow. Then he heard a noise. It was faint, he heard something moving nearby. Shadow had heard it as well, as she had crouched and perked her ears to listen. Kiba dropped into a crouch as well at Shadow's signal, and quietly followed Shadow as she crawled along the forest floor. Shadow then peeled the leaves from her paws and tried using her paws to climb up to a nearby branch on a tree. Kiba was intrigued by this. "How useful" he thought to himself. He supposed it made sense that their paws could be used for climbing. It seemed as though Shadow could see something that he could not, so he decided he would try to climb up as well. One paw after another, he crawled up the side of the tree up to beside Shadow. He remained behind the tree trunk so as to remain hidden, and peeked his head around to see. On the ground, he saw a fox, attempting to stay hidden himself. He turned and looked at Shadow, and wondered what course of action they should take. He turned his head to one side, awaiting some sort of signal from Shadow that would tell him what she wanted to do. ::WORDS:: ### ::TAGS:: @username ::NOTES:: n/a

Looking out from behind the tree, Veto was expecting to lay his eyes upon some sort of creature but no, nothing. It really pushed him on edge that the faint noise had gone as well as nothing to be seen in sight. He flicked his head slightly to the side every few seconds as if he was a small bird, looking desperately for the cause. Maybe he scared it away? but how? Veto wasn't arrogant but he knew that he was quiet enough to sneak up on something...unless. Maybe he wasn't the only one with a heightened sense.
Just as the thought zoned him out for a moment, another sound sprung him back into reality. His head only moved slightly at the sound, struggling to locate where it came from but he knew it was there. The way the sound echoed from the trees to the ground to his paws, it caused the fur on his back to stand. Either he was being watched or something was hiding from him, or both, either way Veto was going to act. Part of him wanted to straight up shout out for who it was, but where's the fun in that?
He walked out from behind the tree, eyes locating where the noise actually came from while he moved. Then Veto did what he knew he was good at, running and hiding. He could have sprung behind another tree and ran from there but if he was dealing with one like himself he needed t be smart. Like before, he broke into a fast trot as if he was to tip toe along the ground to make the minimum noise possible. The fox wasn't leaving the area though, he was only trying to not be seen while making a circle of the area he believed a creature was residing in with him at the moment.
Using the trees as points where he changed direction to lose any eyes he may have on him he then held his ears straight forward, pin pointing any sounds that could be heard. His eyes then focused on two shapes that stuck out like he would in the snow. Curious by the shapes he stopped in his tracks, were they hunting him? One was a wolf which concerned him, were the wolves after him again? It would make sense if they were.
Still, Veto decided to jump onto a few fallen logs and tree roots, only he wasn't planning to stay on them for too long, he didn't have that kind of balance. That smell lingering off of them told him to leave them alone, they were definitely not from around here. If anything ti gave him more of a reason to check them out. He stopped and jumped off of the low roots and onto the ground, making a noise that he wanted to see a reaction to. Veto was expecting them to turn around and see if they heard him or not, if so then it concluded that at least one of them had a sense like his.
Walking up to the side of them he stood and looked up at them with a slight smirk. It was strange to see these two creatures together this close, especially that wolf. All the wolves Veto had met were either in a group or on their own and tried to kill any creature smaller than them, including Veto one time. "You have a strange scent, I don't believe you're from around here are you?"

No, we are not. A simple greeting would suffice. Shadow had watched the fox trot around and recognized a pattern she herself used when dealing with situations that required extreme caution. She heard every slight noise, and eventually saw her starry friends again, a signal of safety. Regardless, she flattened her ears, and fluffed up her spikes.
She glanced at Kiba for an instant, and brushed past him, stalking across the branch and leaping to the next, glancing around to quickly take in all possible escapes for being above a potential threat. Every escape was possible, chase easily could be made, and paths blocked. She studied every twitch he made, every way his eyes could have gone searching, studied escapes from his view, and settled on her branch to observe. The more she studied him, the more she deemed him as not much of a threat, as he could've either attacked by now or ran off if he meant harm or thought they did. He seemed rather curious, however, so Shadow decided to entertain him from the safety of her perch.
We woke up in a cold structure, from another world. Sent here as an escape, by our own wills or others', we cannot say. She crouched on her branch, gripping it tight. She balanced, ready to throw all her weight onto either the ground to fend him off, or across to where Kiba was to hide. She decided to stay put, and watch the two of them with a now icy cold gaze.

Kiba had seen the fox disappear for a moment, and thought that perhaps it had left and it was safe to come down. Then, a few moments later, a voiced startled him inquiring about where they were from. He turned and saw that the fox had quite cleverly circled around to their side. Shadow had told him they were not from around here, and began walking across the branch she was on after glancing at him for a moment. Kiba decided to drop down to the ground, leaving Shadow safe up in the tree while he remained on the ground with the fox. "Who are you? If I may ask" Kiba inquired "Are you native to this world?". Kiba stayed standing some distance away from him, and relaxed his tense muscles so as to send a message that he did not intend or desire to have any conflict. Kiba thought that perhaps he was indeed native to this world, as he seemed different somehow that other such animals from the old world. Perhaps he radiated a different type of energy so to speak. Whatever it was, he wanted to know more about this new animal.

Veto couldn't help but express a confused look on his face when the cat spoke and then the wolf, both lining up to a similar story that made no sense to him. The fox could see and hear those spikes from the cat raise, how could they not be from around here if they have those adaptions? Wait, adaptions... they weren't born in the same air that Veto was, they must not be used to it so their mutations must be going crazy, if it is true what they are saying.
He watched closely as the wolf jumped down and walked forward a little, while they feline still stayed up on the branch. Typical for a feline to do that, they were curious but only from a distance it always seemed. He didn't know where to begin with all these questions forming in his head, he must be dreaming. It would make a lot more sense if he was dreaming but at the same time it would scare him a little more, because most of the detailed dreams that Veto had were premonitions. The last premonition Veto had was something huge falling from the sky along with a vision of ice as if he was frozen. He buried that dream deep in his mind though, a little disturbing to him and it made him doubt quite a lot of it was actually going to happen.
"Native to this world? I'm afraid I don't understand, you must be from here, everyone is." He met eyes with the both of them with even more confusion, but at the same time he believed them. Only because of his dream though, everything else made no sense so at least he wasn't blind to the idea. They looked just like any other creature Veto had seen, but it was their scent that threw him off. It was so...unnatural and nothing like he had experienced before. He looked at his paws for a moment and tried to gather his thoughts to decide which question was going to get the most answers. The wolf had asked him for an identity, only because he was a wolf did that question cause a bit of concern to Veto. Then again, if he was part of that pack then he would have recognised him by now.
"You can call me Veto, and you are?" He raised his head waiting for an answer from the pair. For a wolf he seemed to be a lot friendlier than the cat, though it was expected when it came to newcomers. As long as the wolf kept his distance for a little bit then Veto felt safe enough to keep his curiosity and questions up.
"Where have you come from, really? Forgive me for not believing you but it's hard to believe a cat and a wolf telling someone that they are from a different 'world'. Maybe you were near that area where that thing fell from the sky, it might have...caused delusions. Do you remember something like that?" He tilted his head with still the same expression as before. Veto wanted to believe them but it was pretty hard to believe, he had no idea what lived up in that sky and where it lead. Many believed it was where you go when you die, well, that's what his family told him. Maybe that thing that fell down was from a place like that. It made more sense to him that these creatures were near the earthquake of the crash and got hit in the head or something.
"You have extremely odd scents," He added, trying to weigh out what they meant by him being Native and escaping something "What do you mean escape? Do you mean from that thing hitting the ground?"

Shadow flattened her ears and fluffed up her fur. She felt again the presence of the two starry beings, on either side of her. She hopped down, placing the fox in between her and Kiba. Have you ever thought of the sky, she spoke of a quote Kaite had told her once back on Terra, and though she did not remember he did, the words came back to her as if natural. She continued, how it glistens in the night, I presume there are stars in this world's sky? Have you ever been up there to see what those stars truly are? Since you lack wings, I will guess not? Then how could you know we are not from our home? How could you, pointing out I might add how "odd" we smell in this place, think that if we came from here we would smell less odd than if we did in fact grow in this air rather than our own? Everyone in fact does not have to be from here.
She sniffed the air about them. You do not smell normal to me either, Veto. She stalked around the outside of them, using her position and Kiba's to make a circle. One full circle and she had every escape route visualized, and sat back in her place in line. I cannot speak for him, but as for myself, I remember waking up frozen solid in a glass case. A painful thaw, and an even more painful atmosphere. She raised her head, reassuming her stance that of which she thawed in, a statue. She watched Kiba behind the fox, though fixing her gaze to a swaying branch, and soon grew bored.
She stood, and wandered off in the opposite direction. She disappeared from view and circled around, running up a tree. She hopped silently through the branches and came to rest in one similar in differences of the other trees to the one which attacked her earlier. She looked down, and found the gaping cave filled with leaves and closed off by roots, and deemd it a safe perch. She kept her eye on Kiba, ready to weave her way in between the conflict should it arise. ::WORDS:: 368 ::NOTES:: Again, I fail to write a lot sorry

Kiba listened as Shadow responded to the fox's questions. He thought it quite interesting actually that there were countless other worlds for every star in the sky. They truly must be almost impossible to track, except for perhaps the humans, whom apparently knew enough to know that this particular one was habitable. His mind wandered for a moment as he wondered how such an apparently advanced and intelligent species could be the same one that destroyed their old world through their petty conflicts. It made little sense to him. He watched Shadow circle around Veto, and smelled the air in his direction as well. She was right, he did smell quite unusual. He had definitely not come from the ship. But he seemed to be confused as to what they meant by 'other world'. Kiba watched as Shadow climbed up another tree and settled herself on a branch, before conversing with the fox himself. "Yes, I would describe the thawing from those icy cases as quite painful. However, it was apparently the best way for us to be transported here I suppose." Kiba said "That strange object you saw fall from the sky was something built by a species known as humans. I myself do not understand them very well. They are a very intelligent species, capable of picking up and holding objects in either of two separate arms, and of manipulating the natural world to their benefit very well. However, they tend to become progressively stupider and more dangerous the larger of a group you put them in. We suppose what happened was they managed to make our old home uninhabitable through conflict over petty issues, and had to send us as well as numerous other animals that still remain frozen to here as a last hope for saving any remnants of our world." Kiba sat down, staying focused and alert but feeling relatively safe around this fox, called Veto. "If there's one thing you need to know about the humans, its that they're destructive wherever they go." Kiba remained sitting and began having an irritating feeling in his mouth due to the venom dripping from his fangs. He wished there were a river or body of water nearby to rinse it out of his mouth with, even though they had just been at a river not too long ago. His stomach growled as well, as he noticed they had not eaten since being at the ship. He let his mind wander for a moment, and wondered what sort of prey lived on this planet, what the surrounding area looked like, and related topics as he awaited a response from Veto. ::WORDS:: ### ::TAGS:: @username ::NOTES:: n/a

Holding his paws firmly in place as he turned his head slightly at the cat as she moved while explaining things to him that were a lot to take in. Yet it fascinated him greatly by their story, how they basically came from the sky or better yet the stars. Veto had always wondered what they actually were, no one really knew what they were. To Veto, he was perfectly satisfied with believing that they are just bright lights that appear when the sky becomes dark. IF that really was where they came from, then why were they so similar? If they came from such a distance in something that Veto had never seen before then how powerful were they? It seemed he had to just investigate these people even more.
Once the cat had finished he then turned his attention to the wolf, explaining in much more detail than Veto asked for. Processing it was difficult, he still had so many questions to ask the pair but he knew that too many questions were not always a good first impression. Apparently with these ones too, they clearly were not liking the fact that Veto didn't believe them. Such stories explained in so much detail really was starting to change his opinion on these two, maybe they were telling the truth.
"You really did come from the sky didn't you?" He spoke in a tone that gave a hint of realisation as he moved his eyes to the ground on front of him a little with a sigh. "Well, Sky Critters," He smirked as he raised his head with a little delight. "Lucky for you I can help you. Of course you can help me in return, but we'll get to that later." With a smile he started to walk beside the wolf taking in his scent and looking at his developing wings. They were developing much quicker than any other creature he had seen. Once he'd finished examining the wolf he then looked at the cat, no wings on that one but instead spikes on the fur. Turning back to walk where he was originally stood so he could look at the both of them he smiled.
"Let's play a game, a fair one. It goes both ways, I ask a question and you both answer. Then, the pair of you ask me a question and I answer." Clearly everyone here had questions for each other, most of Veto's were simply just questions to keep him fascinated by them but he could understand their confusion too. "But since I've asked so many, you get to go first." He pointed out.
His ears flicked at the sound of a rumble in the stomach from the wolf. Shooting a look at the wolf the fox then met with his eyes. "I don't have to be extra sensitive to know that you're hungry...and irritated." He tilted his head with a confused expression. "I have food stored somewhere in this forest, not too far from here." He said as he walked towards the wolf and looked at him up and down, his jaws seemed to be the cause of the irritation but Veto wasn't going to ask. Not yet.
"Come," He nodded and looked at the both of them. "We can have a conversation while we walk. And I'd prefer if you walked, no climbing or flying, in your cases."

I take it, the help you would receive is a bit more than just answers to questions? Shadow twitched her tail from her perch. Her voice echoed out around the two canines. I for one will not affiliate in this contract without knowing my own debt in the deal. What fun is a game where you owe the other an unknown something? The cat glanced around the tree and lay down. Any fox with a proposition such as that, he might be lying. ::WORDS:: 83 ::NOTES:: Shortest post ever, sorry, no muse today...

Kiba noticed the fox's interest in their story and in them in general. He could understand why Veto would have so many questions. They did just claim that they fell from the sky in a strange structure created by an advanced foreign species after all. He could imagine that it would come as quite a shock. As Veto walked walked around him making observations and taking in his scent, Kiba took a moment to take in Veto's scent as well. He thought it may be useful to memorize for the future. Evidently Veto had noticed his hunger, commenting at his stomach growling. "Yes, we would be much obliged if you had extra food to spare. Thank you for your offer, its been a while since we both had our last meal" Kiba responded. He noticed Shadow appeared to want to be cautious at his offer, and was staying put where she was. "But I would also ask to know what this trade we would make is. I myself would feel ashamed if we were to accept your kindness and then end up not being capable of aiding you with the favor that you ask. How might we be of any assistance to you?" Kiba inquired. ::WORDS:: ### ::TAGS:: @username ::NOTES:: n/a

Erebus was still a bit sick from being frozen, he stumbles around in the woods, in a haze he puts a hand on a tree and scares some strange bug-like creature. With a cry he starts backwards and trips over a log. Crawling away he scrabbles to his feet, brushing leaves and debris off his chest he stumbles into an area when sun penetrates the thick trees. "Hello?" he calls, hoping for anybody to hear.
He thought he saw a bit of movement, drunkenly stumbling over using the trees as support he recoils back at the sight of a fox, a wolf, and a cat. "What the hell?" He mutters, "Terren animals?" Shrugging he says "I can't believe i'm going to talk to a cat, but can you hear me?"

Perfectly normal response from the both of them, Veto could understand that. They had stepped foot into a land that for all he knew was completely different to theirs to then come face to face with him. Veto knew he wasn't the a saint when it came to giving answers to everyone that came across him, as long as they gave him something in return or he liked them then he'd have no issues.
"Part of the fun my dear," He said as he turned and looked back at the cat, clearly more cautious than the wolf. Again, the similar traits of a cat and a wolf was showing, the cat of course being weary of the fox while the wolf was the same he still showed display of somewhat more confidence. But it was nice to see a wolf with more...patience and willingness to hear things out. "What is a game without an unpredictable outcome?"
He sighed, the fun was over. There was no harm in telling these people the truth of his intentions, he was curious. Is all. "You see, not too long ago I actually had a 'vision' which is just what you described. Now I'm not sure how familiar you are with the common...growths or abilities, which has already taken affect on the pair of you it seems, but having visions is what you can call my...primary ability." He explained to them, whether they thought he was speaking nonsense or not either way they should believe him. He gave them his fair share of confusion but overall belief, it was their turn. From the looks of it, it was in his favour.
"What I want, Sky Critters, is for you to stick around for a bit. You clearly have a lot to learn, as do I." Giving them a slight smile which mostly held good intentions but also a hint of a smirk. Veto saw these people as an opportunity as what you'd call a 'clean slate' in the sense that they had never heard or come across him before, pure of ill rumour about Veto. He knew very well that his sister was out there and who knows what else, so some company would be nice.
He sat down for a moment and shook his pelt before looking back at them, first the wolf and then the cat. "I've grown up and lived with many people like yourself, ones with growths like yours and abilities I have yet to see from you two. If you want to know what is happening to you and how to overcome it, I suggest you stick by me."
Before Veto could begin another sentence his ears flicked forward and straight away he jumped to all fours, fur slightly raised at the smell of what was oddly familiar to Shadow and Kiba. He flicked his eyes to meet with another creature, one that Veto had yet to meet. He growled a little as he showed his teeth, there was no way that a creature like that was just walking into the area without question from Veto. He trotted past the wolf and stood near the cat, still on the branch, and looked at the ever so tall yet unthreatening creature with a glare.
"I could hear you before you even approached with those lazy limbs you used to stagger your way over here." He growled, though not in a way to scare the new arrival away. It was the fact that it was just stumbling about the forest with its strange scent and calling out to everything that lived in the area. "We all can understand you loud and clear, you should respond the same. Where did you come from?" Veto was already expecting an answer that would follow Shadow's and Kiba's but he wanted to be sure.

Unlike you, I feel these traits are not something to be overcame, yet something to use. My visions allow me to see things I could not before, and I will then use this gift as such. As for my leaky paws, well I already have taken advantage of this extra need to wash them, I learn quickly. I am sure that we can both figure out our own changes without your help.
Soon she heard a stumbling of a human. Upon turning around, sure enough, it was so. Yes, I can hear you, human. Greetings. She meowed. She didn't know if this human also had tongues, their strange ability for interspecies communication.
Veto soon hopped to the defensive, offensive it looked more like, and she slipped down in between the two, baring her teeth and fluffing up her spikes to the fox. As much as you fear the unknown, fox, and as much as I may dislike his kind, that is no reason to attack or be hostile towards any individual! She snapped, flexing her claws. She stood a bit taller, but crouched in a fighting ready stance as to his eye level. Can you not tell this being is unwell at the moment? Stand down! She flexed her claws, ready to defend the newly defrosted popsicle if it came to that. ::WORDS:: ### ::NOTES:: I intended to have the spaceship where you wake up as first rp post, but considering no one else is there as of yet, meh.
