The moose pushed Kiba away, but not before he got in at least a single bite. That was good. He had gotten the neck and now it would weaken over time. He continued to distract the moose to wear it out, but then unexpectedly to him the feline jumped in and began attacking its legs, then its shoulder, and eventually bringing it down. "Wow" he thought, "that is one tough cat". It took a lot of thrashing about, but it came down. The feline jumped away as soon as it fell and began licking the blood off her paws. Kiba didn't waste a second. He knew that she was leaving it to him to finish the beast. He lunged immediately at its neck and squeezed his jaws together tightly for a few seconds, jerked his head a little, and then released. The moose would bleed out on its own. He kept close watch of it for a minute, to ensure it didnt get back up. Once he was sure it was dead, he let out a single bark to let the cat know it was safe to approach.

Shadow watched in between licks, the wolf killed it perfectly. She let out an amused purr. We make a pretty good team, she thought. Once he barked, she crept up to the kill and sniffed it. It was definitely dead, and the adrenaline rush heated its blood up to normal, so it should taste like normal moose now. She licked her jaws and looked up at the wolf, dipping her head slightly to give him first bite. She wasn't sure how he would react to a feline taking first bite of a prey that he killed.

He watched as the cat jumped down in delight at the signal he gave. She approached the moose and gave it a sniff, before licking her lips in preparation to eat. He waited, but then noticed that she was dipping her head down as if waiting for him to take the first bite. Sure he finished it off, but he felt that she had done most of the work. Seeing that she would not take a bite, he tore a sizable piece of meat off the shoulder and set it in front of her. Kiba then sat down, and would begin eating as soon as she did.

Shadow watched as he set a chunk of meat in front of her. She glanced up at him a few times before sniffing it cautiously, and, having never tried moose before, licked it delicately. The blood tasted better than that which she licked off her paws, and she tore a smaller piece off carefully, still keeping an eye on the wolf, and sat up to dip her head to him before settling down to eat, still occasionally glancing up. First meal in a few millennia, new food, new life. New friend.

Kiba saw the cat began eating from the piece of meat he had put in front of her, after licking it to test its taste. She glanced at him every so often, but seemed to be enjoying the meal. He was delighted that he could be of aid to someone. He liked this cat. And she seemed delighted at the meal. So, Kiba began eating as well. The moose indeed tasted very pleasing. He was glad he had made a new friend.

Glad I left, or, was forced to leave, whatever I had on Terra... Shadow eventually grew comfortable as she ate with the wolf, and once she finished her portion, she rolled on her side and stretched. Then sat up and continued washing her fur. She didn't remember much of Terra, but she knew that her instincts remembered how much she hated the feeling of dried blood stuck in her claws, or the way blood dried in her fur and clumped it together.
She looked up at the wolf when she was done, and glanced at the carcass. They probably wouldn't get to finish it, but who knows when anyone else would wake up. She stood and tore another piece of muscle half the size and sat in her place to eat. And the next time I'll be eating may not be with such a friend, and may not even be familiar nontoxic prey.

Kiba ate from the moose as he watched the feline eat do the same. He thought of how good it felt to be around someone. For some reason he felt like he had been alone for a long time, and not just because he was stuck in that strange container. He felt like he hadnt had much company before, and that this cat was filling a gaping hole or hunger within him that had been there for quite some time. He saw the cat take another piece of meat, and so he continued eating thinking he knew her motive. They didnt know for sure what awaited them ahead or that easy food like this would be plentiful in the near future. So he continued eating until he could hold no more and subsequently waited for the feline to finish and to lead them somewhere else. He was glad to have the company.

Once she'd had her fill and taken a small piece more to be sure, Shadow once more set to washing herself. Once clean, she examined the rest of the room. She hopped atop a pod nearest the wolf and sniffed around, still eyeing every detail of the room. She looked at the door they'd come in, wondering whether or not they should explore further, and she spotted another door-like spot of wall behind one of the bigger pods. Her search ended with her blue gaze resting on the wolf.
She quickly dropped and approached him cautiously. She sniffed around and licked his forehead. He smelt faintly of ash, perhaps had been in a fire before ending up here? She let out a quiet purr of amusement upon noticing a drop of dried blood on his muzzle, licked it away quickly, and sat a pace away.
Which door...? She debated continuing from where they came, or approaching the new door. She glanced at them both before turning back to the wolf.

Kiba saw the cat finish her meal and cleaned herself before jumping atop a nearby machine. She looked around the room, particularly from the door they had entered through to another through which they had not yet gone. She then looked at him, jumped down and gently licked his forehead. The feline then purred and licked at some blood on his muzzle as well. "Well, this is certainly nice" Kiba thought to himself "people dont usually treat me as kindly as this cat has". Or at least he thought, since he couldnt remember anything. But it felt very nice, that he was clearly trusted and appreciated. She then looked from door to door before looking back at him as if waiting for his input. Seeing this, Kiba whined in the direction of the new door, wanting to see what awaited behind it. Kiba walked over to the feline and gently licked her forehead, to show he appreciated her presence, and then looked over to the new door and awaited her action.

Shadow flinched slightly at the wolf's tongue, perhaps she was not used to canines' soft tongues, or perhaps just not attention in general. She couldn't help but purr, and upon receiving an answer to an unvocalized question, stood and rubbed against the wolf before padding over to the new door. She glanced over her shoulder, taking in the room and drawing a mental map of where they'd been, and the leftover carcass, she thought that perhaps if they were trapped in the ship they could always sleep in their pods in the first room, but remembering how cold it was, dawned upon the idea of sharing the moose's with the wolf to share heat. The moose wouldn't miss it, she was sure.
She crouched beside the door and listened, sniffing cautiously at it before turning back to the wolf.

Kiba heard a purr upon licking the feline, and then saw the cat rub up against him before trotting over to the door which Kiba had whined at. She understood him clearly, and they seemed to be communicating well. He certainly liked the attention to him that the cat was paying. He had heard somewhere that felines will rub up against only those whom they trust, and so he felt appreciative at this gesture. The cat looked about the room for a moment, and then examined the doorway before turning back to him. Seeing that she was intent on continuing to the next room, Kiba walked over to the doorway and went through, looking back to ensure the cat was coming as well.

Shadow followed the wolf through the door. Inside were numerous screens, some of which showed images of familiarity, tree stumps and smoke, demolition, a dark sky with nothing but haze, not even much sunlight could flicker through. The images were of a barren land, frost coating much of everything, as if that whole world were in a cryogenic sleep. Yet, some still held hope. A few of the other screens were pitch black, some with shadows and some with beautiful luminescent shapes and soft motions.
She approached one, the screen held a single curled petal with a pearlescent glow, with sharp thorns lining the inside, a fruit past the design of flat thorns, and tendrils weaving through the ground. It looked beautiful, if only one didn't get too close. She thought it could pose as a trap to predators, a clever little flower. She wouldn't want to eat any fruit on this world anyway, seeing how bad the stench on the native carcass.
The next screen she set her gaze on contained the glowing green leaves of a tree, a slightly darker shade. Soon, a gush of dark red liquid, and pieces of flesh, scattered the view, coating the screen in a dark filter. Shadow sniffed the screen, nothing. She turned back to the wolf and sniffed him, then stalked over to another monitor. This one showed a dark trunk with an arced hole near the base, as if it were a den. She saw dark, bloody tendrils moving inside, and the dark pieces of flesh around the entrance settled into place, falling from neighboring branches.
She turned away and back to the dystopian images of old Terra. The barren moon still lay motionless, as if not a single atom had even a spark of life to it. Old nothing or new death... We can't exactly go back anyhow...

Kiba walked through the door and saw a room filled with flat panels which displayed various diferent images on them. Many of the pictures showed destroyed habitats and overall ugly environments that would surely be unsurvivable. "Was this our old home?" Kiba wondered "Did someone save them from whatever happened to these destroyed places and put them here in this strange structure?". Kiba saw the feline follow him in, and was now viewing the various pictures as he was. There were some pictures, however, which displayed lush greenery and a thriving environment. This must be where they were currently, as it clearly contrasted from the other images. The cat came over and sniffed at him and then went to view another picture. This one was of a tree that seemed to lure prey and absorb its nutrients somehow. "Jeez" Kiba thought "I hope this place really does end up being better than the last". Already it seemed this was certainly no paradise. The feline had turned back to the images of destruction, and so Kiba looked at them too once more, before walking over to another doorway and sitting beside it to gesture that he was ready to depart the room as soon as she was. "Hopefully this place can be a decent home", Kiba thought "it seems not without its dangers. But with that lush greenery, there may be life thriving here. And perhaps so can we".

Shadow sat beside the wolf by the doorway, still staring at the images. Desolation versus a dark almost black setting with life in it. She turned back to the wolf and headbutted his shoulder lightly, before sniffing around the door and eventually setting a paw through. Her head and body followed, and the new room displayed a sort of control room, dull shapes lining an angles counter, and large windows viewing black and glowing surroundings. It was quite beautiful, and she turned back to the wolf.
No sooner than she did, she heard a low snarl. She turned quickly back. A luminescent green blob leapt at her, and with sharp tendrils started tearing at her fur. It stung. She let out a screech of pain and surprise as she slammed her back, and wherever the thing was at the moment, into the floor and walls.

The cat walked over and sat beside Kiba by the doorway. She looked back at the images one last time before rubbing up against him for a moment and moving to the next room. Kiba followed her into a room full of windows, outside of which was a dark environment with a glowing effect to it. Kiba looked outside in curosity for a moment at the strange but pretty environment. Just then, he heard a snarl and saw the cat being attacked by a strange, glowing creature. It came out of seemingly nowhere and began tearing at her fur as she screeched in pain. It then slammed her back onto the floor and attempted to retreat. Kiba had become immediately enraged, and bolted at the beast before it could get away. He bit at the beast repeatedly, locking his jaws and shaking his head about. And he scratched at it multiple times as well, making sure it would stay away once it retreated into a corner of the room, which it subsequently did. Kiba rushed back over to the feline upon the creature's retreat and layed down beside her. He felt sick to his stomach and enraged at the creature for what it did. Kiba gently licked at her wounds, making sure not to cause much pain. Right now he wanted to ensure she was alright. He would deal with the beast later.
